What we say:

At A Glance:

The Epiphone 1961 Les Paul SG Standard is part of Epiphone's Inspired By Gibson series. Made in partnership with the Gibson Custom Shop, this guitar recreates the original incarnation of one of the most important guitar designs of all time.

Originally introduced as a brand new variation to breathe new life into the at-the-time waning popularity of the original Les Paul, the SG would go on to be one of Gibson's most popular designs. The slimmer, lightweight body with unparalleled access to the dusty end of the fingerboard made it a natural for the exploding rock & roll movement.

This stunning take on that design features period correct design like the body contours and SlimTaper C neck profile, paired with solid, dependable modern features like the GraphTech nut and LockTone bridge and tailpiece. Rounded off with a pair of stunning Gibson BurstBucker pickups, and you're rigged and ready for those classic SG sounds.

Features We Love:

Inspired By The Original

The Epiphone 1961 Les Paul SG is directly inspired by those first runs of Gibson's inimitable double cutaway. Designed with the Gibson Custom Shop, it features the classic contoured body shape on the 2-piece mahogany body, and the original profile SlimTaper C neck, made from 1-piece Mahogany.

Built To Modern Quality

It might be inspired by the original, but this guitar still boasts some great modern features like the superb Gibson BurstBucker 2 and 3 pickup set, Switchcraft output jack, and LockTone locking bridge and tailpiece.

Gibson BurstBucker Pickups

This guitar comes rigged with a pair of Gibson BurstBucker humbucking pickups, namely the BurstBucker 2 in the neck and BurstBucker 3 in the bridge. BurstBuckers are specifically designed by Gibson to be the modern recreation and incarnation of their original PAF humbuckers, with the result being pickups to give you that classic, old school Gibson sound, but running nice and hot to really make modern amps sizzle.

Highlights:

  • Inspired by the very first runs of the inimitable Gibson SG
  • Designed in partnership with the Gibson Custom Shop
  • Boasts classic body contours and neck profile
  • Modern reliability and components
  • Stunning Gibson BurstBucker humbucker set for classic PAF tones
  • Dependable LockTone bridge and tailpiece
