About Electro Acoustic Guitars
Electro acoustic guitars are simply acoustic guitars that are equipped with a pickup, and often a preamp, so that you can plug your acoustic guitar into an amp or PA for live performance. You can also use a pickup to record your acoustic guitar by plugging into an interface.
Electro acoustic guitars often have ‘cutaways’ which means that the body has been shaped so that you can access higher frets with ease. You rarely find cutaway designs without electronics, they tend to go hand in hand with one another. We have a variety of electro acoustic shapes available including small body, jumbo and dreadnought electro acoustic guitars.
The most common kind of acoustic pickup is a ‘piezo’. A piezo pickup is a thin magnetic strip which sits under the saddle, this is why they are often referred to as ‘undersaddle’ pickups. More elaborate pickup systems will involve a blend of multiple sound sources such as an internal condenser microphone or a face sensor.
Famous acoustic pickup brands are Fishman and LR Baggs and these are fitted as standard on a huge range of acoustic guitars including Gibson, Fender and Epiphone. There are many acoustic guitar brands who have developed their own pickup system. Particularly renowned among them are Taylor, Takamine and Cole Clark.
Why Should I Choose an Electro Acoustic Guitar?
- Perfect solution for live performance
