Manufacturer's ID: BETA87A

What we say:

At A Glance:

The Shure BETA 87A is a studio grade condenser microphone that's engineered to deliver a clear vocal tone. Featuring a supercardioid polar pattern, an internal shockmount and an electronically controlled low-end roll-off. If you're looking for a handheld mic to capture the very best of your voice on stage and in the studio, you'll find it with the BETA 87A.

Features We Love:

Directional Sound

Using a supercardioid polar pattern, the BETA 87A delivers excellent directionality, so you'll only pick up your voice on stage and not the other instruments.

No Proximity

BETA 87A features an electronically controlled low-frequency roll-off that compensates for proximity effect. This means if you tend to involuntarily get up close to the grill when you perform, your sound won't get muddy and distorted like it can with a dynamic microphone.

Handheld Operation

Performers who like to hold the mic in their hand will love how the mics internal advanced cartridge shock-mount system eliminates and rumbling that can be transferred through the casing into the capsule.

Who Is It For?

Professional Singers looking for that studio grade sound.

Highlights:

  • Clear vocal sound
  • Great directionality for stage use
  • Works great as a handheld mic

Excellent product, but for me, the beta56a delivers a richer vocal. I would recommend the beta87a for a female vocal.

Great mic, does what it says on the box

R.B. - 21/1/2013

Haven't used my Mike for a gig yet but plenty coming up this weekend, so I'm sure it will be fine!
