Product Overview
If you need a basic mixer to create a high-quality stereo mix from a small number of input sources, the MG10/2 or MG8/2FX may be exactly what you need. They are compact and easy to use, while delivering uncompromised audio quality. They're so compact, in fact, that an optional adaptor can be used to mount them on a microphone stand for easy access. The MG8/2FX includes a selection of top-quality Yamaha digital effects, so you won't need any extra equipment to create and refine your sound. The MG10/2 and MG8/2FX are ideal choices for an ultra-compact music/demo production system, or for small live sound applications.
10 Inputs on the MG10/2, or 8 Inputs On the MG8/2FX
The MG10/2 features two mono microphone or line inputs and four stereo line inputs, for a total of ten inputs. Two of the stereo line inputs can also be used as mono microphone inputs, so you also have a choice of using four microphones and two stereo line inputs, or three microphones and three stereo line inputs. The MG8/2FX has two mono microphone or line inputs and three stereo line inputs, for a total of eight inputs. Two of the stereo line inputs can also be used as mono microphone inputs, so you also have a choice of using four microphones and one stereo line input, or three microphones and two stereo line inputs. On both models microphone-compatible inputs 1, 2, 3/4, and 5/6 allow input gain adjustment: microphone input over a -60 dB ~ -16 dB range, and line input over a -34 dB ~ +10 dB range.
Versatile Inputs
Channels 1 and 2 - the two mono-only input channels - provide phone jacks and balanced XLR-type connectors. Stereo inputs 3/4 and 5/6 have "L" and "R" phone jacks for stereo line input as well as XLR connectors (one per stereo channel pair) that can be used for mono microphone or line input. The remaining channels - 7/8 and 9/10 on the MG10/2, and channel 7/8 on the MG8/2FX - have phone and RCA pin jacks for stereo line input. RCA-jack 2-track inputs are provided in addition to the channel inputs for adding a stereo line source such as a CD player to the mix.
Four Top-quality Microphone Preamps
Microphone preamplifiers play a large role in determining the final sound of your mixes. The MG10/2 and MG8/2FX feature low-noise, high-performance microphone preamplifiers that will bring out the best in dynamic and condenser type microphones.
Switchable Phantom Power
The MG mixer microphone preamplifiers provide phantom power for studio-quality condenser microphones. Phantom power can be switched on or off for all mic-compatible channels simultaneously.
Insert I/O
Mono input channels 1 and 2 feature insert patch points that can be used to insert external signal-processing devices into the channel's signal path. You might, for example, want to use a compressor only on a vocal channel, or you might want to insert a noise gate on a guitar channel.
3-band EQ and High-pass Filters
All input channels include smooth-acting, musical-sounding 3-band equalizers that can be a huge advantage in creating great-sounding mixes. Channels that allow microphone input (1, 2, 3/4, and 5/4) also have switchable high-pass (low-cut) filters that can help to remove unwanted low-frequency noise from the microphone signal.
Send and Stereo Return
The MG8/2FX features a post-fader effect send that simultaneously feeds the internal effect processor and the mixer's effect send jack. The MG10/2 has a pre-fader AUX1 send for monitoring as well as a post-fader AUX2 send for external effect send. The signals from each input channel can be routed to either or both auxiliary sends. Both the MG10/2 and MG8/2 provide stereo returns that will directly accept the returned signal from a stereo-out effect processor, or the signal from any other stereo source.
Comprehensive Output Connectors
The mixer's main stereo program signal is simultaneously delivered to the main stereo outputs (phone jacks), the C-R outputs (phone jacks), the REC OUT connectors (RCA pin jacks), and the headphones output (stereo phone jack). That's plenty of connections for monitoring and connection to your master recorder.
12-segment Level Meters
High-visibility 12-segment levels meters allow precise visual monitoring of stereo mix levels.
Compact, Portable Design
These stylish, ultra-portable mixers weigh a mere 1.8 kilograms so they can be taken anywhere and set up quickly to deliver outstanding sound at rehearsals, clubs, or even outdoors.
Optional Adaptor for Microphone Stand Mounting
The MG10/2 and MG8/2FX can be mounted on a microphone stand for easy access using the optional BMS-10A Mic Stand Adaptor. Microphone-stand mounting is convenient for drum sub-mixer or recording cue box type applications.
Intuitive Controls and High Reliability
The design of the controls and switches used on the MG mixers, as well as the way they are laid out, allow easy operation and visual confirmation of settings.
