Way Huge are an eccentric brand of boutique pedals designed by madcap savant Jeorge Tripps. His unique designs always sound excellent and go just that little bit further than most other pedals whilst still always offering an inspiring and usable sound. Tripps has designed some classic pedals for other companies like MXR and Line 6 but his most revered creations are from his own stable, Way Huge.
The Camel Toe combines two of Tripps’ best loved overdrive signals in one pedal: the Green Rhino and the Red Llama. These are both faithfully recreated in this one box with the Llama gaining an additional ‘Hi-Cut’ control for handy tone sculpting.
Way Huge call this a Triple Overdrive. So where’s the third? Easy: flip the small ‘Series’ switch and enjoy both circuits on together at the same time! Be careful now!
Verbally describing drives and distortions can get a little dodgy sometimes but what we will say is that the Camel Toe can deliver a large range of excellent drives that have a lot of character and personality. It can get quite full on and muscular at times, something we wholeheartedly approve of! There is also a brightness (which can be dialled out) on top of all that hairiness that makes the pedal invaluable for a live rock band setting: you can really fill up on these frequencies you usually lose to other instruments!
The Camel Toe is an excellent choice for riffy and textural players who need to control the light and shade of their drives whilst still letting loose an absolute battering ram of sound!
