What we say:

At A Glance:

The Taylor Builder's Edition 814ce Grand Auditorium is designed to be the most premium in looks and tone. Built with a rich selection of tonewoods including Adirondack spruce, and combined with the well loved Taylor Expression system 2 this guitar sounds incredible in any situation. At every corner, you'll find the fine details, from inlays to binding, which Taylor add to make sure this guitar is as much of an experience to look at as it is to play.

Features We Love:

Quality Woods

The 814ce is made from a fantastic selection of premium woods including Adirondack spruce and Indian rosewood, finished off with ebony. Adirondack spruce, also known as Eastern red or Appalachian spruce, was heavily used in the pre-WWII era. It's loved for its more dynamic characteristic compared to Sitka, and is just as detailed at low volumes as it is at it's peak, making it ideal for players who really love to dig in with their playing. Indian rosewood is a classic timber that never gets old especially when it comes to looks. Deep lows and bell like highs can be expected from Indian rosewood. Rounded off with an ebony bridge and fingerboard the whole tonal spectrum is sure to respond well to dynamic players as this guitar rings out in every area.

V-Class Bracing

Developed by Taylor’s Master Builder Andy Powers, this is an innovative new style of bracing. It tackles the issue of achieving sustain and tone without sacrificing volume. V-Class bracing allows the guitar’s top to move and vibrate in a more stable manner, resulting in more focus and response from the wood. This control means more volume and projection. The ‘V’ of the bracing travels the middle of the guitar, maintaining rigidity and lending sustain and resonance to your notes. V-Class bracing means a louder, richer sound with better intonation and response.

Expression System 2

This is widely recognised as one of the greatest acoustic pickup systems available. It translates every ounce of tone, detail and dynamic from your fingertips, strings and guitar wood. This gives the audience an accurate and fully realistic translation of your performance.

Builder's Edition

There's no getting past the beauty of this instrument, Taylor have gone the extra mile. Though its functionality is not to be overlooked, with the Builder's Edition every aspect has been thought about. The forearm contour offers more comfort over long playing/writing sessions. Equally, there is a finger contour in the cutaway for easy and comfortable access to those higher frets. Gotoh tuners add a touch of Japanese quality.

Who Is It For?

If you're looking for quality you'll be hard-pressed to find better, this is for the discerning player looking for the best. The Taylor electronics help you sound just as good plugged in as acoustically. The versatile body shape makes it great for all styles of playing.

Highlights:

  • Exceptional attention to detail with the Builder's Series edition
  • Loud, rich sound with great intonation and response
  • World-class pickup system
