Roland Week is quickly approaching and we're going all out for it at guitarguitar Glasgow! It doesn't matter if you're a synth head, a guitarist or a pianist, we've plenty for you to get involved in and can't wait to celebrate one of our very favourite brands with you. Roland have always been a big part of guitarguitar and with a dedicated Planet in our Glasgow store we knew it was only right to dedicate one of our weeks of celebration to their incredible gear. We're pleased to share a packed schedule of events where you can learn more about what they've got to offer and spend some time hanging out with the Roland experts. Read on for all the details!

Synth Club - Monday 22nd July

Let's face it, Roland synths have always been at the cutting edge of technology. So much so, in fact, that their vintage gear still sounds as fresh, modern and iconic as ever, even today. That's why we want to give you the chance to try out a huge selection of synths and spend some time geeking out on them with some fellow noisemakers! We invite you to bring along your own synths and can't wait to get stuck into a huge range of gear from different eras of Roland. 

With Roland expert Andy Pimblott joining us to show off all of the latest innovations and even spend some time showing you a few new tricks on your own synths, you won't get a better opportunity than this to try out and learn more about a huge selection of the brand's synths!

While Roland synths are capable of some seriously wacky sounds and textures, their pianos are every bit as impressive, consistently bringing a sleek style and exemplary sound for every budget. We have a huge range of their fantastic instruments and were keen to give you all the chance to experience just how phenomenal they sound so we've set up one to one tuition sessions with Roland's exceptionally talented Remie Pascua where you can take your first steps into learning how to play. Even having the basics of playing the piano up your sleeve gives you a great foundation for writing your own music and progressing with other instruments and we firmly believe that its one of the most beneficial things that any musician can do.

Building Your Pedalboard Like a Pro - Thursday 25th July 

12:00PM - 6:00PM

When you find the right pedal setup, it feels like your playing has been given new life. There's nothing more inspiring than playing through your dream tone and effects and switching up your effects setup is a great way to inspire new ideas. However, that doesn't mean that setting up a board can't get confusing. So, we thought we'd invite the Roland experts down to help demystify the process and show you how to set up the ultimate board! BOSS have more timeless pedals than most and with everyone from Brent Hinds, to Johnny Marr, to Steve Vai using their gear, they cover an unbelievably wide range of playing styles and genres and tend to do so at very reasonable prices.

Roland's resident pedal obsessive Mark Harley will be taking one to one sessions all day where he'll break down different effects setups and tailor them to your sound. If you've ever been a bit confused about what order your stompboxes should sit, or how you can achieve a certain sound, this is the perfect chance to become a master of BOSS effects and really take control of your board!

Learn to Play the Drums in 60 Seconds - Friday 26th/Saturday 27th

Pianos aren't your thing? Not to worry, we're catering to all you would be John Bonhams out there by offering one to one drum lessons as well! There's no instrument more satisfying to master but getting started can be tricky, so we wanted to give you an introduction to get the ball rolling. Roland's kits are among the most acclaimed on the planet and their capabilities really are quite astonishing.

Whether you're a total beginner or someone who's played for years, expert Mike Thomas is sure to have a few tricks to show you and will tailor the session to your experience level. Even if you've never sat in front of a kit before, we'd love to see you and show you the ropes. We see Roland's drums as a must-try for every drummer so come along and see what all the fuss is about!
