Ones To Watch: The Dirty Nil
Published on 19 November 2019
This week on our Ones To Watch... The Dirty Nil!
Hailing from a quaint, picturesque valley town in Ontario, Canada, this trio of loudmouth rockers have been making their mark across the globe, sharing the stage with the likes of Billy Talent, Alexisonfire and even The Who. Not to mention playing over 350 shows over the past three years. Impressive, right?
Having met each other in their teen years, Luke Bentham (vocals), Kyle Fisher (drummer) and Ross Miller (bass) spent the early days honing their craft playing the dingiest pubs and clubs, tearing apart the local scene with their electric performances. Bringing heaps of energy and a definite punk rock ethos to their music, the guys combine influences from all over resulting in a pretty unique and totally infectious sound. We were lucky enough to catch them supporting the Bouncing Souls at their recent date in Glasgow and were blown away by their catchy collection of tunes and killer riffs that sat somewhere between classic garage rock, punk and grunge.
The band refuses to be defined and don’t play by the rules or aim to be super polished for radio. They do however have big rock ‘n’ roll dreams to take their dirty, snarling tones to stadiums and open-air gigs and we can't wait to see what's next for them. Take it from us, their anthemic, life-affirming lyrics are ready and waiting to be sung by thousands in a muddy field with a beer in hand. In fact, that sounds like utter bliss to us!
Lucky for you, these guys have plenty of tunes to get your teeth stuck into, so make sure to check them out.
As the lads say themselves... the Dirty Nil play rock and roll - cause they couldn’t do a damn thing else if they tried.
