What we say:

At A Glance:

The XYH-6 by Zoom is a professional X/Y stereo microphone that's compatible with Zoom handheld recorders. This unidirectional mic is ideal for capturing music performances and speech, as well as for sound design.

Features We Love:

X/Y Stereo

The X/Y capsule will bring a detailed stereo image to your Zoom device. This tried and tested configuration accurately captures the stereo field and is ideal for recording acoustic instruments and vocals. These recordings can also be played in mono that results in a rich full sound.

Compatible Devices

The microphone features Zoom's proprietary connection that makes swapping mics fast and easy. It's compatible with most Zoom handheld recorders including the H5, H6, U-44, F1, F4, F8 and F8n, as well as ECM-3 extension cable for Zoom microphone capsules and the Q8 camera.

Highlights:

  • Captures a detailed stereo image
  • Professional level microphone
  • Great for filming video, interviews and performances

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 4/5 (1 reviews)

Purchased as an alternative to the standard module on an H5. First impressions are good, though further use will tell whether it is a worthwhile improvement over the standard offering. Score may well change up or down depending on its ruggedness and general usefulness over several months of use and further listening tests - it is clearly not any worse - but how much better and whether the ability to adjust the angle of the mics is of actual value for the recordings I make.
