What we say:
Born in 1963, the Gibson Firebird was another radical 'shape' guitar from the company who gave us the Flying V and the Explorer. Designed by Ray Dietrich with mid-50s car tailfins in mind, the Firebird has been in constant production ever since.
This bold looking Firebird Studio continues this confident shape with a stripped-back-yet glamorous vibe. The Firebird has been available in a few variations over the years and this one is based on the 'non-reverse' model, referring to the body shape. It's finished in Pelham Blue, a Blues-referencing shade of metallic colour proving popular with Gibson fans.
The traditional neck-through design and mini humbuckers of other Firebird models have been changed here for a set neck, Grover tuners and full size ceramic 496T & R humbuckers. This results in some large and fiery tones with a good deal of harmonic sustain.
Altogether, what we have here is a very charismatic guitar of high quality at a great price.
