What we say:

Hagstrom are a classic Swedish guitar brand dating back to the mid Twenties! Guitar makers since the late 1950s, Hagstrom have always offered their own stylish takes on classic solidbody and hollowbody guitar designs.

Hagstrom are popular with a diverse range of players: indie and punk guitarists love them as much as jazz players and metal guitar players. Their robust build quality, strong tones and left-of-centre good looks all play a lot in this!

Hagstrom guitars all feature a patented H-Expander truss rod for supreme stability. They also use patented ‘Resinator’ fingerboards which are made form a composite material that feels similar to Ebony. The necks are real selling points for Hagstrom: it is a supreme pleasure to play these! They feel slick, solid and comfortable, just as they should.

Hagstrom are an excellent choice for the iconoclastic musician looking for something traditional and a little different, with modern functionality and great sounds.

Hagstrom’s semi-acoustic Viking design is adapted here for bassists, and the translation is a good one: this bass is fantastic!

The Viking’s semi-hollow, F-holed body is curved and bound, making for a beautiful looking instrument. Visual details abound, including binding, a decorative tailpiece and custom pickup covers.

The Viking Bass has a shorter 30.75” scale length, providing a playing experience that is easy and satisfying. This great bass can tackle pretty much anything, and the set Maple neck is a pleasure to play.

The pickups are a pair of Hagstrom’s own design Dyna Rail humbuckers, with a versatile sound that straddles both vintage and contemporary flavours. A 6 way chicken-head rotary toggle brings you an excellent selection of pickup combinations from thick humbucking to slim single coil sounds, along with a few more in between!

We think the Hagstrom Viking Bass is an excellent choice for Rock and Indie bassists, as well as players who want access to good Blues, Jazz and Pop sounds. Available in a range of finishes, the Viking Bass is shown here in Translucent Wild Cherry.
