Benson

Benson are renowned builders of boutique amps. Based in Portland, Oregon, their handmade original designs have become hugely popular among alternative rock bands like The National, Bon Iver, Bright Eyes and Sufjan Stevens. Their amps are very expensive and there is a very long waiting list.

To get the unmistakable Benson sound in as many homes as possible they have developed the Benson Preamp Pedal. The Benson Preamp Pedal is the same circuit as their 30 Watt Chimera amp except they have replaced the valves with FET transistors. It’s an extremely versatile pedal capable of glassy clean tones, amp like overdrive and fuzzed out glory.

Benson have recently introduced a new Germanium Fuzz pedal. Germanium fuzz pedals sound glorious but are notoriously fussy, sounding completely different depending on the temperature of the room. This can be a real problem for hot stages. The Benson Germanium Fuzz has Automatic Thermal Bias Technology which gently heats the diodes to the correct temperature and keeps them there. The LED changes to show you if the diodes are the correct temperature. Classic 60s fuzz tones without the hassle!
