Taylor Builder's Edition 914ce Grand Auditorium Wild Honey Burst

In 2024, the 900 Series is transitioning to feature an all-Builder’s Edition lineup. This year’s release of the Builder’s Edition 914ce, with its sinker redwood top and Honduran rosewood back and sides, marked the next evolutionary stage for the 914ce, often celebrated for its sonic complexity and beautiful aesthetics. Now, we’re releasing a new Builder’s Edition version of the 914ce featuring the original 914ce’s Indian rosewood/spruce tonewood combination. Players will now be able to choose between two top-tier tonewood pairings.

This cutaway Grand Auditorium model, our most versatile body shape, showcases premium solid-tonewood construction, an assemblage of elegant appointments, and the innovative, comfort-enhancing design features characteristic of our Builder’s Edition Collection.

Indian rosewood, which makes up the back and sides, is revered as one of the greatest tonewoods, offering deep lows and bright, sparkling treble notes that ring out with bell-like clarity. Paired with a Lutz spruce top, you can expect a broad dynamic range with strong volume and projection. V-Class bracing enhances the response with increased sustain and improved intonation along the entire fretboard. A Kona edgeburst is artfully sprayed on the rosewood back and sides.

Players can choose from two different top color treatment options. The first is a natural top where the spruce’s straight grain is left unstained. The second features our stunning Wild Honey Burst top color treatment – a bold visual aesthetic that equals the guitar’s bold sonic character.

Like other select Builder’s Edition models, the body is finished with a silent satin sheen, dramatically reducing squeaking and sliding sounds caused by natural arm movements while playing. A beveled cutaway, beveled cutaway, chamfered body edges, Curve Wing ebony bridge and rolled edges on the ebony fretboard ensure a remarkably comfortable playing experience.

Elegant visual details include a mother-of-pearl peghead logo; Belle Fleur fretboard and peghead inlays in paua/ mother of pearl; a single-ring paua rosette with ebony/ koa/black purfling; an ebony-bound soundhole; black/ paua/black purfling on the top and back, koa fretboard and peghead purfling; a black TUSQ nut; and ebony bridge pins. This model comes equipped with Gotoh 510 tuning machines in antique gold and onboard ES2 electronics.
