What we say:
The Charvel So Cal (Southern California) is a very similar model to the San Dimas, except for the addition of a pickguard and certain hardware choices. It’s a real treat for guitarists who want high levels of performance!
This particular So Cal is finished in Black and has matching Black hardware.
The neck is a fantastic, as we’ve come to expect from Charvel: this is one of the reasons they were the number one choice for a generation of shredders! Maple, reinforced with graphite rods, filled with jumbo frets and rolled at the edges…this is a playing surface to die for! The Charvel standard 12-16” compound radius Ebony fingerboard is perfect, too.
The pickups here are a set of high output, premium quality Seymour Duncan ‘Duncan Distortion’ models. A coil split hidden in the guitar’s volume control gets you some single coil twang but these babies were born to make noise! They are an exceptional pair and are well chosen for this So-Cal.
A quality 100 series Floyd Rose tremolo signs this off as a high-spec, high-quality guitar with performance and tone to spare! We are seriously impressed.
More comfortable than an overstuffed armchair, the So-Cal body is sleekly sculpted out of alder and paired with a rock-solid bolt-on maple neck with a pair of graphite reinforcement rods to handle the ravages of the road and climate. A conveniently located heel-mount spoke wheel allows for rapid truss rod tweaks, even in between songs. Engineered for effortlessly nimble playing, the speed neck profile and 12”-16” compound radius ebony fingerboard are perfect for all styles of play — from low end riffing to soaring leads with worry-free upper-register bends.
Hot-rodded for unparalleled performance and versatile sound, this instrument hosts a high-output Seymour Duncan® TB-6 Distortion humbucking bridge pickup and a warm, fat Seymour Duncan® SH-6N Distortion humbucking neck pickup for killer tone. The volume control hides a push/pull coil split for even more highly useful tonal variations, ideal for everything from a biting lead sound to thick, chunky rhythm work. The no-load tone control operates like a standard tone control from positions one through nine, removing itself from the circuit at position ten for transparent sound, letting the full natural voice of the guitar shine through. Scream or rumble with the Floyd Rose® double-locking tremolo system without sacrificing tuning stability or the pinpoint intonation.
Available in a stunning Deep Purple Metallic or brooding Gloss Black finish with a black pickguard, black hardware and licensed Fender® Stratocaster® headstock.
