About Bass Guitar Strings

Bass guitar strings tend to come in a few main gauges, referred to as 40s, 45s and 50s after the lightest string in the pack. Most players will settle on the gauge they prefer and stick to it but different bass guitars and different scale lengths may require a little experimentation with string gauge.

We carry all major bass string gauges by brands including Rotosound, Ernie Ball, Dunlop and D'Addario. Flatwound strings are available for those who play fretless bass or just want that smooth, tight feel. We also keep string packs for 5 and 6 string basses in every store.
