What we say:

Yamaha have taken inspiration of their Revstar range from vintage racing motorbikes to influence the lines and curves of these guitars, not to mention the unique palette of colours of the finishes. Blurring the line between decorative and utilitarian, the Revstars are design for modern, style-conscious players who want a high performance guitar that has a classic, slightly retro look.

The flagship of the Revstar range, the RSP20 is a Japanese made guitar that defines the whole Revstar ethos with its racing strips, Copper pickguard and hand-brushed (with steel wool no less!) Rusty Ratt finish. As Yamaha themselves put it, this guitar has “function, character and style to burn.”

Made or Mahogany and Maple, this fixed-neck Revstar has a neck profile to die for: the 3 piece mahogany neck is just on the right side of chunky to feel instantly comfortable and ‘handy’: this is an extremely playable guitar! the 24.75” scale length is complemented by a 13.75” fretboard radius and 22 Jumbo frets for easy lead and riff playing.

Sonically, Yamaha have wisely opted for a pair of their own VH5n+ humbuckers. These are Alnico V pickups, noted for their warmth and versatility. A bit in ‘Dry Switch’ lets you filter out lower frequencies for a tone that’s similar to a single coil but still retains output and lack of hum! It’s a great invention.

We really love the Revstar guitars. It’s great to see a big company like Yamaha designing and making unique, original instruments. This RSP20 model is beautifully made, feels excellent and sounds terrific.
