What we say:
Alvarez acoustic guitars began life in St Louis, Missouri in 1965 by master luthier Kazuo Yairi. A well known guitar brand in the States, many top players like David Crosby, Thom Yorke, Devin Townsend and Any DiFranco have proudly toted Alvarez guitars live and in the studio.
Nowadays most Alvarez guitars are made to exacting standards in China and distributed all over the world, bringing traditional building techniques, understated good looks and high quality control into the hands of players of all descriptions.
This AF66 model is an folk model with an Orchestral body shape from the Alvarez Artist range. This traditional and handsome acoustic has a solid African Mahogany top to ensure a strong sound with a strong midrange focus. Layered Mahogany is used for the back and sides. This type of body shape is excellent for fingerpicking styles and arpeggios, making it perfect for Folk music and other traditional styles.
It’s a clean and crisp look for this AF66: a subtle inlay at the 12th fret of the fingerboard and a tasteful abalone rosette combine with a unique bridge shape and Ivory coloured multi-ply binding make up the quietly good looking visuals of this understated guitar.
The guitar has a Sunburst Gloss finish apart from the neck which has been thoughtfully given a semi-gloss finish to support easy hand movement.
If you need a quality, affordable folk guitar, this solid-topped AF66 from Alvarez is an excellent, understated choice.
