What we say:

At a Glance:

The Taylor 714ce is a high-end grand auditorium acoustic. It is part of the prestigious Taylor 700 Series. The guitar boasts quality materials, V-Class bracing and a great acoustic pickup system. It is beautifully designed with outstanding attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Features We Love:

Luxury Woods

This guitar is made from rosewood and lutz spruce, the latter of which is a hybrid species of white and sitka spruce. Lutz spruce is even louder than sitka, providing great projection when used as a tone wood.

Beautiful Detailing

The Taylor 714ce features beautiful small details. These include:

  • Abalone ‘reflections’ inlays, and a Douglas fir rosette
  • Hawaiian koa binding with a Douglas fir edge trim
  • A wooden pickguard that’s been heat treated to give a fantastic old-world mottled look

V-Class Bracing

Developed by Taylor’s Master Builder Andy Powers, this is an innovative new style of bracing. It tackles the issue of achieving sustain and tone without sacrificing volume. V-Class bracing allows the guitar’s top to move and vibrate in a more stable manner, resulting in more focus and response from the wood. This control means more volume and projection. The ‘V’ of the bracing travels the middle of the guitar, maintaining rigidity and lending sustain and resonance to your notes. V-Class bracing means a louder, richer sound with better intonation and response.

Versatile Body Shape

The Grand Auditorium body shape is a great all-purpose design that works for both strumming and fingerstyle. It’s justifiably Taylor’s most consistently popular body size. The 'ce' of the guitar's model name refers to the Venetian cutaway, which provides easy access for upper fret playing.

Expression 2 System

This is widely recognised as one of the greatest acoustic pickup systems available. It translates every ounce of tone, detail and dynamic from your fingertips, strings and guitar wood. This gives the audience an accurate and fully realistic translation of your performance.

Who Is It For?

Those looking for that acoustic with something extra. The fine details on this acoustic really hammer home how premium this instrument is. As with all V-class Taylor's it sings with a rich, resonant voice that can work for all styles of playing while remaining loud and clear.

Highlights:

  • A luxurious model, part of the Taylor 700 Series
  • Comfortable and easy to play
  • Quality woods and V Class bracing that produce a loud, dynamic sound
  • Great attention to detail

Early days, but I think it sounds harsh now I've got it home, and I wish I'd bought a Martin instead.
