What we say:

At A Glance:

The Fender Player Stratocaster may be Fender's entry level into their array of incredible guitars, but my oh my what a way to introduce the brand! Don't be fooled by the price, these guitars represent a lot of bang for your hard earned buck.

Using much of the same materials as their more expensive offerings the Player series are a joy to play and are 100% gig ready. Featuring a 9.5" fretboard radius, 'Modern C' neck profile which has a satin feel for comfort and speed and a two point tremolo system these classics have been revamped to suit the needs of the modern guitarist.

Equipped with Alnico V magnets, these pups have all of the vibe of a vintage instrument that hark back to a simpler time when the Beach Boys were in the charts and twitter was just a sound that birds made. In addition to this, the Player is offered in SSS, HSS and HSH variations so there's a Player Strat for every whether you're a relative novice or a seasoned professional.

Features We Love:

A set of Player Series Alnico 5 single coil pickups

There's not a lot more unique and iconic as the sound of a Strat. Whether it's the full on cut of the bridge pickup, or the creaminess of a combination of the neck and middle positions, this can only be achieved by playing a proper bona fide Strat.

Two Point Synchronised Trem with Bent Steel Saddles

The two point system is a lovely innovation for this take on a classic design. Differing from the original six screw design, it is both more responsive and easier to adjust if needed.

22 Medium Jumbo Frets

This is another nod to the Player series' forward thinking. Gone is the traditional 21 fret neck, hello high D note!

Highlights:

  • Satin Modern C neck profile. Comfortable and easy to play.
  • Tradition body shape and contouring. The comfortable design that Leo Fender originally conceived.
  • Bridge pickup tone control. It just makes sense to have control over this!

It's a Strat. That pretty much says it all but it has the sound and playability one would expect of a higher-end Fender instrument in the more affordable player range. As somebody who hadn't picked up an electric guitar in two decades (not to denigrate the acoustics I'd been playing over that time, but they ARE different), this instrument meets my needs perfectly. It's an easy-playing journeyman's instrument capable of almost any sound you want. After so long away from the electrified world it was essential that I found a guitar that wouldn't either hold me back OR forgive any shortfalls in my technique - after online chats with sales reps I had a shortlist of two to try. When noodling around in the store this one gave me a new verse to a song I'd been working on and the deal was made :)

How can you go wrong with a Strat? Clean crisp tones, Fender quality, chicks dig it. What else can you say?

Played like a dream out of the box. Can definitely feel the quality difference compared to my older entry level guitar. Perfectly capable guitar without the American made price tag.

Adam H. - 7/7/2021

This guitar is just great to play. Having upgraded from my starter guitar I had for about 10 years, this is a big upgrade.

Callan S. - 7/5/2021

Really good guitar. Upgraded from the guitar I bought to learn on and the difference in quality is incredible.
