What we say:

At A Glance:

Atkin, builders of some of the most beautiful acoustic guitars in the world, have built this fantastic slope-shouldered J43-A "The Forty" Black model with a torrefied Sitka Spruce top to really nail that old-world American Sound. This Relic model adds some gentle and sympathetic distressing for extra vintage appeal.

Features We Love:

Hand Made in England

Atkin acoustics are all made by hand in Canterbury by a small team of 7 artisans. The quality speaks for itself in the detailing, sound, projection and finishing.

Torrefied Top

Torrefaction is a process where the timber is essentially baked. This dries out the moisture and changes the tone and response of the wood, effectively ageing the sound. The result is an instrument that is new, but sounds like it's a hundred years old! It's astonishing and, more importantly, it works!

Great 'period' details

The shape is perfect, the burst is exactly the right shade, the headstock decals convince and the finishing is a gently relic'd gloss nitrocellulose: every detail is exactly right. Even the scale-length, at 24.9", helps the Atkin Forty Three capture that feel.

Highlights:

  • Perfect looks
  • Outstanding sound
  • Wonderful feel
  • Handmade in UK.
