What we say:

Yamaha crushed all competition with the introduction of the Pacifica 112V. Simply put, nobody was offering the same level of quality and playing experience for such a low price. Countless industry awards later, the Pacifica 112V is still the one to beat: the simple fact is, these guitars are good enough to go on stage with! But what’s so good about them?

Consistent quality is the main factor: Yamaha took an established design, tweaked it to make it their own and made sure it was built to a solid level with parts that would last. Add in to the mix the inherent versatility of the design and the experience Yamaha have in guitar building to ensure factors like neck profiles and bridge mass get the attention they deserve and you start to see a picture emerging.

Starting with a solid Ash body, we have a bolted-on hard rock Maple neck with 22 medium frets on a Rosewood fingerboard to make a classic feel that is inviting and easy to use. The hardware is good quality: for example, the tremolo bridge has block saddles for better sustain and tone translation. The pickups, all warm sounding Alnico V models, are arranged in the brilliantly versatile Humbucker-single coil-single coil configuration. Lush rock tones can be had from the bridge humbucker but this can also be thinned out to a classic chime by engaging the coil-split feature located as a push/pull control within the tone knob: simply pull up on the tone and you turn the humbucker pickup into a single coil. The humbucker is itself mounted to the body rather than the pickguard as Yamaha reason that doing so will increase the resonance.

All in all, there is so much to recommend with this guitar and nothing much to hold against it. With this level of quality and dependability, the biggest question is really: which colour do you want?! This one is Yellow Natural Satin, the classic 'Pacifica' finish!

Great beginner?s guitar for the price.

Very good quality guitar considering the price for a novice I would recommend this guitar.

Very happy with my Pacifica. I opted for the natural wood finish, which looks fantastic, and I'm delighted with the build quality. My playing isn't so good, but hopefully it will improve quickly as I learn and practise using this instrument.
