What we say:

The title of this new 7 string pretty much summarises its whole agenda: this is a high performance S-type from the era of the gunslingers and hairspray! It’s a speedy-feeling and hot-sounding guitar with a special design Floyd Rose 1500 series tremolo for some serious noise.

This is made with Mahogany for the body with a show-stopping Quilted Maple top, finished in Sky Blue Burst. Visually, this thing jumps at you!

The neck is exactly as you’d hope it to be: a thin piece of Maple with a nice flat 16” radius Ebony fingerboard and 24 huge frets! It’s a shredder’s delight here and the 26.5” scale length is easy to adjust your playing to. This small change makes the low B string infinitely more stable in terms of intonation.

We also have a set of active EMG pickups here: Retro Active Hot 70s models which have both alnico and ceramic magnets to bring you a hot sound that’s not huge in output but delivers a sound that we’ll say is very ‘VHII’ sounding if you get our inference! These units have special preamp circuits to cut out almost all background hiss and hum.

We think the Sun Valley Super Shredder 7 is an extremely effective update of a retro 80s ‘gunslinging’ guitar for a modern, heavy audience. Fans of extended range pyrotechnic playing will lap this up.

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 4.5 (2 reviews)

Great value for money. Instrument could have been set up better out of the box. Action was terrible at first. A couple of days of tweaking and it?s great, but if you have no experience setting up guitars you would find it very difficult to play and would likely need to pay a pro to get it playable.
