Schecter Reaper-7 Multi-Scale Inferno Burst
Manufacturer's ID: SCH1511
What we say:
Schecter’s Reaper is an exotic looking S-type, designed for precision performance with stunning looks.
This 7 string model is a multi scale guitar. This means that the scale length at the lower strings is longer than at the highest strings. Doing this creates more uniformity in tension across the entire neck. Tuning is better and the whole instrument feels more comfortable and precise. As a feature of this, the pickups, nut and bridge are all set at an angle, not to mention the frets, which are arranged in a ‘fanned’ manner to allow for proper note intonation. It looks invitingly unusual and is extremely practical!
This Reaper uses Swamp Ash for the body (great for resonance), and has a dramatic top made of Poplar Burl. The grain on this wood is spectacular, made even more so by the Inferno Burst finish.
A reinforced 5 piece neck is used here, joined to the body in a set-neck fashion. This reverse-headstock design has an Ultra-Thin C profile and a 25.5”-27” multiscale length. A super flat 20” radius Ebony fingerboard houses 24 narrow extra jumbo frets for a feel that is unparalleled.
A pair of Schecter Diamond Decimator pickups (with a push/pull on the Tone pot) bring a wealth of tones from glassy and slick to punchy and fat. These 7 string units have rails instead of individual round pole pieces, again emphasising the uniformity and balance of the design.
Schecter are on to a winner with this: it looks stunning, sounds great and is very clear and defined. Contemporary players should try this as soon as possible!
