Where are Taylor guitars made?

Taylor have two factories; one in El Cajon, California and one about 30 miles south in Tecate, California. Every model from the 300 Series and above is made in America using all solid wood. Every model from the 200 Series and below is made in Mexico and uses layered wood for the back and sides material.

What do the numbers in Taylor models mean?

You can tell quite a lot about a Taylor guitar based on its model number. The model number is three numbers long and followed by one or two letters, such as ‘814ce’. The first number refers to the series it belongs to. Each series is made in a particular factory using a particular set of woods. The second number tells you both: if it has a spruce top or an alternative, and whether it is a 6 or 12 string acoustic guitar. The third number tells you the body size: each size has a different number. Finally, the ‘c’ means it has a cutaway and the ‘e’ means it has electronics.
