About Hagstrom Viking

A true scandi classic: the Hagstrom Viking mixes vintage cool with modern performance. The Viking is an affordable semi-acoustic electric guitar introduced by the Swedish company in 1965. In the 1960s it was played by Frank Zappa and, most famously, Elvis on his ‘68 Comeback Special.

The modern Hagstrom Viking is a more robust, muscular guitar. Its twin humbuckers are confident and powerful though not too hot to be unsuited to a wide variety of sounds. This has made it beloved by modern rockers such as Pat Smear (Nirvana/Foo Fighters) and Tim Armstrong (Rancid). Hagstrom’s patented ‘H-Expander’ truss rod enables the Viking neck to be thin with an extremely low action. This coupled with the shorter 24.75” scale length means the Hagstrom Viking is a very comfortable guitar to play.
