What we say:
Tyler’s Japanese guitars are made by a small hand-picked team of artisans specially trained by James Tyler himself to produce instruments of extremely high quality. Originally intended as a line of Japanese market only guitars, the resulting quality was so impressive that they rolled out international production. Having said this, production numbers are still extremely limited in order to keep the quality meticulously high.
The Studio Elite HD is perhaps the defining Tyler design and we are happy to say that Tyler Guitars Japan have absolutely nailed it!
A big part of the Tyler experience is small details: the specific shape of the body, the specifics of the neck profile, the weight of the wood…handling a Tyler guitar is a very particular experience, so that is why we are really saying something when we talk about this being so close to the Los Angeles-made models that it is difficult to tell them apart!
This Studio Elite has it all: the Mamywo body, the Quilted Maple top, the quartersawn Maple neck with compound radius fingerboard and the outstanding hardware. This example is finished in translucent Red and has a White pickguard, cut into that inimitable custom shape.
We are looking at the ubiquitous H-S-S pickup configuration here: two JTS5500 single coil units and a Tyler Secret humbucker, all slanted to improve table and bass characteristics. There aren’t many tones you can’t coax from this layout: pristine and gentle to ferocious and modern, it’s all here with the added bonus of the famous mid-boost which works more as an instant layer of ‘production’ on your sound. It’s bypass-able and controllable from the onboard control knobs so you can decided how much you want in your tone. It’s an excellent asset to have available, both live and in the studio.
With this one guitar, you can perform pretty much everything and anything you will need to on a guitar and to the highest quality possible. There is so much to recommend here.
Condition ReportThere's a small crack in the finish at the neck pocket on the bass side
