What we say:

Brand new for 2018, Lowden guitars reveal their first production electric guitar ever! This original design electric was designed by George Lowden in response to an artist request and is a large solid-bodied single cutaway electric with a real ‘Lowden’ look to it! From the headstock down, there is no mistaking who makes this guitar, despite it being unlike anything they’ve done before. The woods and overall aesthetic are clearly from the same mind that dreamed up classics like the F25: in other words, it’s unique and beautiful.

The GL10 has three varieties of beautiful tonewoods for the top, this one being Tasmanian Blackwood, and all have a Mahogany back for resonance and sustain. Because of the natural beauty of these woods, the guitars are finished with hand-rubbed oil: there are no thick sprays or lacquers here! There is a brass plate embedded into the centre of the body for even greater sustain! The slightly oversized body is extremely comfortable on a strap or on the lap where it sits in an easy playing position.

The GL10 is loaded with excellent quality hardware and electronics. A Gotoh bridge and Gotoh tuners with Ebony buttons form part of the gold-plated hardware set and the pickups are two well chosen Lollar Imperial humbuckers. These are high-end pickups hand made in the USA and have an airy, PAF-like tone that perfectly complements the GL10’s woods to provide a voice that’s clear, smooth, eminently sustaining and has a tight bass response. Two volumes and one tone knob control your tonal choices from the guitar along with a three way selector in the top bout.

The neck is made of 5 pieces of Mahogany spliced with thin strips of rosewood and the profile is a comfortable ‘C’ shape. A fingerboard with a 12” radius keeps the feel very lead-friendly too.

This is an expertly made instrument. The quality of design, workmanship and finish more than matches up to the quality and splendour of the woods and hardware. Moreover, this guitar has no preconceptions: it’s a new design so there is no baggage of historical association: YOU decide what to play on this. The GL10 is a liberating and satisfying guitar with a plethora of world class tones available.

Select Master Grade tone woods are paired with integral five piece neck to body construction, through body strings with solid brass lined string holes, embedded tonal brass plate within the body, Lollar Imperial Gold pickups, and hand rubbed natural oil finish.
