What we say:
G&L’s Tribute Series are an excellent value division of guitars and basses built in the Far East. Using the same models styles and designs as the USA-made G&L models, these innovative guitars bear all the hallmarks and trademarks fo their creator, Leo Fender.
The ASAT is of course G&L’s take on the famous T-style guitar, designed by Leo Fender. Upon returning to his earlier creation, he tweaked and upgraded elements, resulting in the ASAT. This model is the ASAT Classic, and is designed to give you a classic tone and look with slight tweaks to the spec to bring it in line with what modern players need and expect.
Our left-handed example here looks pretty magnificent in its finish of Clear Orange with a Cream pickguard. The body is Swamp Ash, a fantastic choice for resonant tones! This is paired up with a Hard-Rock Maple neck, sculpted into a Medium C profile. The neck feels reassuringly substantial in the hand without being clubby. 22 medium jumbo frets on a 9” radius fingerboard make for a versatile playing surface, regardless of what you choose to play.
A set of MFD single coil pickups, designed by Leo Fender and made in California, are used here to great effect! These special units allow a strong, bold single coil tone without incurring lots of hum and noise. They sound excellent, especially when used in tandem with the Swamp Ash of the body!
A G&L design bridge unit with increased mass and individual brass saddles gets more energy and harmonic information from each string, adding sustain and tone to your playing.
We are seriously impressed with this lefty ASAT Classic. It gives so much for the price, in a package that is both fresh and classic.
Condition ReportOn the edge of the neck past 22nd fret the lacquer has chipped off as well as some scuffs on the neck plate.
