What we say:

At A Glance:

The Les Paul Standard '50s has been designed with the intention of grouping together the features that typify this period for Gibson. Without being a specific vintage reissue, this model will deliver a definitive Les Paul experience!

The body of this model has zero weight relief, a bonus for Les Paul aficionados, some who believe the drill holes used by Gibson to remove the heft of a solid mahogany body, take with them some of the tone. Gibson have listened to those who are after a 'full fat' Les Paul, and have delivered exactly that.

Features We Love:

Full Fat Les Paul

A point of contention, some believe that the chambered body of newer Les Pauls can have a thinner tone than what you would expect to get from a Les Paul. This model has none of that! This mahogany body has zero weight relief giving you the 'full fat' Les Paul tone so many desire. But make sure your shoulder is ready for the heft!

Vintage '50s Neck

Some what more substantial than Gibson's 'Slim Taper' neck profile, the 'Vintage '50s' neck feels great in your hands and is fantastic for both rhythm and lead playing. We'd even go as far as to say that larger necks are more comfortable over a longer period of time rockin' out!

Highlights:

  • Zero weight relief, giving the 'full fat' Les Paul tone
  • The larger 'Vintage '50s' neck feels great and will have you playing all night long!

Amazing guitar! Sounds incredible and plays incredible straight out of the case. Good to see Gibson returning to that quality you expect.

This guitar is a work of art, I can’t say enough…

Onat Y. - 12/2/2023

My guitar is perfectly set up and sounds beautiful. I paid a small deposit to ensure I could play multiple serial numbers, as they ordered all of them in for me.

Dissaponted with Gibson QC Standard neck plate loose not screwed down loose e string played open fret buzz and the screw securing the lead jack pin so loose it fell off when tuning I have had the guitar set for me proffessionally set and plays like a dream For £ 2199 Gibson attention to detail should be better No fault of Guitar Guitar i hope you pass my comments on to Gibson

Wow. Just wow. I wasn't intending to buy one of these, I really wasn't. I very much approved of Gibson's move to this approach to the "standard range". But I already have several Les Pauls so I wasn't intending to add to them. Various things came together ending up with this model (50s Tobacco Burst) being in stock when I looked at it and the funds being available. When we opened the case here we went WOW! When I played it we went WOW! I've had it over a week now, I've managed to find time to play it every day. Every time I think WOW! The fit and finish are fabulous - best of my Les Pauls. The 50s neck is exactly what I wanted. I wasn't too sure about the Burstbuckers (I do tend to swap out pickups), but the latest pickup height experiments seem to have put me into "might actually keep these ones in". I much prefer them to 57 Classics which I hang to for a while but always end up replacing. All in all - wow, this guitar is even better than I was imagining when they first came out like this.

The guitar I have wanted for years. It?s as good as I hoped. Love it?s look and it?s sound. So playable.

Anthony K. - 31/5/2021

Delivered in very good robust packaging, the hard case is a thing of beauty itself, let alone the Les Paul? I have always wanted one and now I have it.

Kevin G. - 30/4/2021

Beautiful guitar... the tobacco burst is more subtle and tasteful than I had expected. The guitar plays like a dream and rewards even a poor player like myself, sounds absolutely amazing!

Charles F. - 19/4/2021

Been many years playing and always wanted a Les Paul. One word - thrilled!
