The Epiphone Les Paul Standard and Les Paul Custom are very similar guitars. The major difference between the two is that the Custom has an ebony fingerboard, while the Standard has an Indian Laurel fingerboard. Ebony is more desirable because it has a harder, smoother texture and has a livelier sound. Apart from that, the differences are purely cosmetic. Block inlays vs trapezoid inlays. Gold hardware vs chrome hardware. It all depends on personal preference!
