What we say:

BOSS’s colourful stomp boxes are the most recognisable pedal range in existence. For over 40 years, guitarists from bedrooms to stadiums have put their boot down on a BOSS effect to transform their sound. Several models have passed into guitar legend and early examples can fetch extremely high prices. Happily, BOSS have maintained their stellar reputation for world-class effects in bomb-proof casing with their current range and have fended off the imitators for decades to remain the pre-eminent single pedal effects manufacturer in the business. If there’s an effect for guitar (or bass, vocals, keys…be creative!) then you can bet BOSS have a pedal of it in their range or even invented it outright! Every guitar player should get to experience the joy of selecting a pedal from BOSS’s exhaustive roster, plugging it in and unleashing their wildest sonic dreams.

Under this rust coloured pedal, you'll find some subterranean, bone-shaking low octaves to merge with your guitar tone or replace them completely for convincing pseudo-bass notes.

There's an addition drive section too, so you can have a clean guitar signal that turns into a thick, distorted octave sound with a single stomp of your foot! Like it's well-loved predecessor, the OC-2, this pedal can give you three octaves at once: your original fundamental, another tone an octave below that and ANOTHER one a further octave below that! Who needs a bass player?

Talking of bass players, they can use this pedal too (with a dedicated bass input) if they want to completely obliterate the very fabric of space and time with gargantuan notes that are close to subsonic! There is a lot of low-end fun to be had with the powerful OC-3.

Specification

The BOSS OC-3 Super Octave gives guitarists high-quality octave effects with a single stomp. Three modes are provided, including a new Polyphonic Octave mode, a Drive mode with distortion, and the original OC-2 mode. The versatile OC-3 also has separate inputs for both guitar and bass.
  • World’s first compact pedal with true Polyphonic Octave effects
  • New Drive mode adds distortion to octave notes for a fatter, more aggressive tone
  • Includes the original OC-2 mode, capable of producing notes one and two octaves down
  • Poly Octave effect adjustable to play within a specific note range
  • Bass input for adapting octave sound to bass guitars

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 4.8 (5 reviews)

Excellent pedal - lots of fun and fills in bass playing duties very well.

Spencer S. - 12/6/2019

Does what it says on the tin.

jason o. - 15/2/2018

Awesome. Very good. Happy boyfriend.

BILLIE L. - 14/8/2017

Polyphonic capability is a really useful development while maintaining the functionality of previous octave pedals. I am using mine to enhance the basslines in my fingerstyle jazz playing, especially when accompanying a singer.

This was a gift to my son, who says it is great!
