One of the most legendary companies in effects pedal history, Mike Matthews’ New York based Electro-Harmonix have been bringing out a bewildering and exotic range of game-changing effects for nearly 50 years now and show no signs of stopping!
This almost-direct reissue of the Bad Stone Phaser gives you everything the original circuit did plus a little more! The famous sound is exactly the same, with its six stages of phase and lush sound that goes form deep and thick to fast and watery. This time there is a 'manual' switch to 'freeze' the phaser mid-sweep for some very interesting tones that work extremely well with lead parts and solos.
The housing has shrunk in accordance with the rest of E-HX's catalogue and it is happily now a True Bypass pedal but aside from that this is the classic Bad Stone all the way.
Specification
The Bad Stone delivers an incredible six stages of phase shifting plus a manual mode that lets the player freeze the phase. Its Rate knob controls the phase shifting speed which goes from a very slow swoosh to a rapid, oscillating warble. Feedback determines the depth of the phase effect and a toggle switch lets the user select Auto or Manual modes.
In addition to the die-cast package, other modern amenities include true bypass for maximum signal path integrity, an effect status LED and an AC jack that accepts an EHX9.6DC power supply.
