What we say:
PRS's CE (Classic Electric) range was originally created to provide a bridge between their established 'Custom' models and something with more twang, resonance and a bolted-on neck. Certain sounds are only achievable with bolted-on neck construction and it’s been a very popular addition to the PRS stable.
Made with a Mahogany body and figured Maple top (finished here in Trampas Green), the CE24 has a Pattern Thin maple neck that is bolted into the body with a deep-seated neck join. The 25” scale neck has an East Indian Rosewood fretboard and the classically distinctive ‘bird’ inlays.
The pickups are PRS’s own esteemed 85/15 humbuckers, designed by Paul himself. These are updates of his famous 1985 Treble and Bass models, balanced sounding with a good level on output and also very convincing as single coils when the included coil tap circuit. It’s a super-versatile set up with a good handful of base-covering tones.
PRS also have a tremolo design that’s famous for working well and being reliable. Everything about this guitar is extremely well engineered. It’s not a step down form a Custom 24 at all: it’s a viable alternative that’s equally fantastic but completely different sounding.
The original CE was to introduced in 1988 and offered players PRS design and quality with the added snap and sparkle of traditional bolt-on guitars. Returning after nearly a decade of being out of the lineup, the CE 24 is back and better than ever. Check one out today.
