Roland EC-10 Cajon

Roland sometimes bring out instruments that not only haven't been done before, they have us raising some jaded, skeptical eyebrows at them before we've even had them in the shops. Such was the case with the EC-10 El Cajon. We couldn't quite get our heads around the concept until they arrived in store and we set one up for display. Our opinions quickly changed!

The EC-10 El Cajon is immensely good fun! It's so addictive and natural to play on; it fits right in with 'unplugged' sorts of situations and really opens up options for drummers who sometimes feel a little relegated in 'folk night'-type affairs.

This works normally as a good, boomy, acoustic cajon all by itself but plug it in and this thing comes alive! There are a whole host (30 kits) of extra drum and percussion sounds that blend in with the cajon and are amplified from within to provide a really flexible and interesting edge to traditional cajon playing. Each kit has two sounds: one on the head and another of the edge. These include ethnic percussion as well as sounds a little closer to home (and TR-808 sounds too if you want to turn a few heads!).

Whether you want one of these for those folk jams, busking in the street or supplying yourself with new and interesting ways of recording percussion, the EC-10 El Cajon is a truly unique and excellently fun instrument.
