What we say:

The Deluxe Strat from Fender Mexico is a refined and updated Stratocaster for the modern player who requires a little more output and performance in a classic package.

Essentially a souped-up HSS Strat with a cool large 70s headstock, the Deluxe comes with a fresh set of finishes (including this Tobacco Sunburst) and some great hardware choices.

The fingerboard has a 12” radius to cater for more contemporary, technique-based playing styles. Narrow-Tall frets give a good feel that is half way between traditional and modern. Locking tuners up on that big headstock are a definite bonus too!

The pickups are a great selection of models: Fender noiseless single coils specially wound for vintage output are matched up with a ’Twin Head’ vintage humbucker at the bridge. This is a very agreeable set up: you get the benefit of extra punch, thickness and sustain where you want it but the overall sound leans towards a classic, vintage tonality so you can enjoy ‘proper’ Stratocaster tones without suffering a huge volume jump when switching to the humbucker. Smart move, Fender. There is also a coil tap switch located in the Volume knob to thin that humbucker out to a single coil: perfect.

We think this Deluxe Stratocaster from Fender gets the Vintage/Modern blend pretty bang on and we’d say the upgrades are definitely worth the extra spend for the guitarist who requires classic Strat vibes with a little extra kick!

Specification

Two noise-free, highly articulate Vintage Noiseless™ pickups inhabit the neck and middle positions, cranking out traditional, crisp Strat tones. The Twin Head Vintage humbucking pickup in the bridge position has moderate output, warm tone and even string response, as well as including a thick aluminum base plate to reduce magnetic interference. For traditional Strat tones, simply tap the S-1™ switch atop the volume knob to select the rear coil of the bridge pickup—voila, instant classic Strat sound. Enjoy smoother travel when using the tremolo bridge, thanks to the modern two-point synchronized design, which includes bent steel saddles for classic aesthetics. A contoured neck heel and 4-bolt asymmetrical neck plate make it easy to comfortably reach the upper registers of the neck. The flatter 12"-radius fingerboard makes it easy to play fast leads and perform deep bends without fretting out. Locking short-post tuning machines provide increased break angle at the nut for buzz-free playing and enhanced tuning stability, along with quicker string changes.

The alder body bears a highly durable gloss polyurethane finish that will easily stand up to hard playing, keeping the instrument like new for years to come. Classic aesthetic touches include nickel/chrome hardware and a three-ply mint green pickguard, along with aged white pickup covers, control knobs and switch tip. Sporting authentic Fender style and versatile sound, the Deluxe Strat HSS is the ideal instrument for players who need a variety of tones for the stage or the studio.

A straight up 5 star purchase here. A HSS Strat with the option of switching your humbucker to a single coil, a beautiful tobacco sunburst body which shows off the grain, a maple neck and two noiseless single coils, which really do make a difference. It?s my second Fender guitar and so far is holding up to my expectation set by a telecaster I purchased 5 years ago. This Strat is versatile, the 5 way pickup selector offers a big variety of tones and having the humbucker rather than a single coil is great for use on a dirtier sound. Still in the ?honeymoon phase? with this one, but even when looking for a criticism, I find it impossible!

90% of the features of an American Elite, at a fraction of the cost. Feels great to play. The neck has a lovely satin finish. Variety of tones is excellent in the HSS configuration with coil-split.

I have a Mexican made Nashville Tele and the quality is great; took another risk by buying without seeing the actual guitar and it paid off; flawless finish and a wonderful 12" radius maple neck. Fender make great guitars.
