What we say:
EVH: Eddie Van Halen. Inventor of shred guitar, redefiner of electric guitar building, pioneer of high gain and modulation effects and owner of the most wanted-and-copied guitar sound in existence, the fabled Brown Sound. Not happy with just changing how everybody played, Eddie was and is a tireless tinkerer and engineer. His own innovations and modifications of both his guitars and his amps back in the day led, in part, to his unique sound and playing style and they continue today on his own studio workbench.
These innovations have now found their way out into the world through his brand, EVH. It’s simple; EVH makes the gear that Eddie himself plays. The amps he plays on stage are the ones you buy, his Wolfgang guitars are the exact same ones hanging on the walls at guitarguitar. With his exacting eye for detail and his huge experience for the workings and machinations of guitar technology, you can be assured of solid, wonderful sounding instruments and equipment designed by an absolute master.
They said it couldn't be done but Eddie Van Halen and EVH have proved the naysayers wrong by bringing the huge, towering Brown Sound into a tiny little 15w lunchbox amp. This thing is very dirty sounding!
The two footswitchable channels available here are the same as channels 2 and 3 on the bigger 5150 MK III heads. There isn't a lot of scope for clean sounds but that's hardly the point of this amp: this was made to unleash hell! It's all-valve and has a 1/4 power switch to make variac-free bedroom shred sessions a reality. The front panel is clear and easy to read plus you get some great EVH Stripe stylings on the front grille. Match this with a small 1 or 2 x 12 cab and you'll have a portable rock/metal rig that sounds arena-huge.
