What we say:

At A Glance:

The EC-256FM See-Thru Purple Sunburst complete with a set neck, mahogany body and flame maple topped cap is value for money that you just won't find elsewhere. The single cut, 24.75" scale length design clearly takes inspiration from a classic model, but it's the refinements that are where ESP really shine. With some well placed contours in the body and sharpened edges, the Eclipse is less 'clunky' than it's competition. The mahogany body and maple cap combination handles all of the bite and attack needed, but with a prominent mid range to thicken up your tone. With a TOM style bridge and tailpiece and two covered humbuckers, it's absolutely brilliant.

Features We Love:

LH-150 Humbucking Pickups

With this style of guitar, a couple of nickel covered humbuckers just look right. To really dial in a thick, creamy tone then you can't go too far wrong with these. For everything from distorted rock styles to warm cleans, these will cover it all. A coil split also opens up some single-coil spank too!

Gorgeous Flame Maple Cap

Maple provides plenty of bite and attack tonally due to the denseness of the wood, but this flame also looks stunning. It's uniformed flame is striking, complimented with a translucent, highly glossed finish.

Slim, Fast Neck Profile

The Eclipse's slim shape neck is comfortable, but not so thin that it feels like there's no purchase. Somewhat a classic feature to ESP guitars, it will satisfy both the guitarist new to the brand or someone who is well accustomed to the sleek neck shape.

Highlights:

  • Classic look at a snip
  • Genuine mahogany body for mid range warmth with a maple cap for high end articulation
  • Set neck construction for increased sustain and resonance

Lovely guitar. Goes out of tune on the top two strings which may be down to the strings that arrived with the guitar or how they were strung as the tuning drift has lessened in the days since it arrived. Will see how it works with a fresh set of strings of my choice.

The ESP LTD EC-256FM is one hell of a beautiful guitar. Much research was done before purchase to make sure the £418 price tag was justified and oh, it was. A stunning purple sunburst finish with a slight cut away body for comfort and complimentary chrome hardware, 3 way selector switch and a split coil switch - there's no sound you can't accomplish with this axe. It has a beautiful range of clean tones and once you hit that overdrive switch, prepare to be impressed. Meaty overtones with plenty of grind make this a beast of a guitar! I was half expecting to swap out the pickups but certainly no need as they give me everything I desire and I'm a huge fan and player of Rammstein / System of a Down / Metallica / Guns N' Roses, Megadeth, Smashing Pumpkins and far too many other bands to mention. BUY IT!
