What we say:

ESP’s LTD range have always offered high quality at very reasonable prices and this EC-256FM is especially competitive, offering a bound, carved flamed Maple-topped guitar with a set neck and a translucent finish at a price that makes for outstanding value.

In terms of woods and construction, the EC-256FM Lemon Drop adheres to ESP’s tried and tested standards: the Mahogany body gets a Flamed Maple top and is joined with a glued in Mahogany neck. A 24.75” scale length and Rosewood fingerboard keep this firmly in classic territory.

That Flame top is well figured and attractive to look at: this model is finished in See-Thru Purple Sunburst and looks like it is worth five times’ the asking price!

A pair of ESP-designed humbuckers impart a nice mix of vintage sustain and modern crunch. Both models have chrome covers for that classic, timeless look.

This affordable guitar impresses: it is a fully realised, distinctive guitar that references the past without being slavish to it. If you need a great guitar with looks and sonics but not a massive price tag, this is hard to beat!

Lovely guitar. Goes out of tune on the top two strings which may be down to the strings that arrived with the guitar or how they were strung as the tuning drift has lessened in the days since it arrived. Will see how it works with a fresh set of strings of my choice.

The ESP LTD EC-256FM is one hell of a beautiful guitar. Much research was done before purchase to make sure the £418 price tag was justified and oh, it was. A stunning purple sunburst finish with a slight cut away body for comfort and complimentary chrome hardware, 3 way selector switch and a split coil switch - there's no sound you can't accomplish with this axe. It has a beautiful range of clean tones and once you hit that overdrive switch, prepare to be impressed. Meaty overtones with plenty of grind make this a beast of a guitar! I was half expecting to swap out the pickups but certainly no need as they give me everything I desire and I'm a huge fan and player of Rammstein / System of a Down / Metallica / Guns N' Roses, Megadeth, Smashing Pumpkins and far too many other bands to mention. BUY IT!
