What we say:

Ormsby guitars originally hail from Australia, where company leader Perry Ormsby has been designing cutting edge, outrageous multi-scale guitars for over a decade.

Leading the way with exotic timbers, original body shapes and innovative hardware combinations, Ormsby’s guitars are immediately distinctive. These production models are made at World Musical Instruments in Korea, well known as creators of some of the finest imported guitars in the world. Ormsby guitars impress with their attention to detail, extreme styling and superlative sound.

The TXGTR is as close as Ormsby will come to a t-style instrument! With an appealingly offset design that reminds us of Salvador Dali’s famous melting clocks, the TX is a design that is unmistakeable.

Each TC model has a bolted on neck with 29 stainless steel frets for an extreme range of available pitches. Part of this is down to the multi scale nature of the guitar. Ormsby are leaders of this type of design: multi scale lets you be more intoned, more in tune and have a more natural and ergonomic relationship with the instrument.

This 6 string model is made with Mahogany for the body which has generous cutaways and a little contouring on the back. The finish of this TX is Gunmetal, which looks excellently 'sci-fi'! The neck is Maple with an Ebony fingerboard and has a multi scale length of 25.5-27.5”.

Ormsby use their own pickups and this TX comes fitted with a PVH A5 humbucker and an Old School A5 single coil for a wide range of tones. The tone knob has a push/pull coil split for even more tonal options.

We love the surreal look of the Ormsby TX: it is definitely different but retains enough resemblance to accepted forms to be successful in itself. It sounds epic, feels amazing and looks genuinely new. We love it.

The fanned arrangement of the Multiscale fretboard creates scale lengths for each individual string. For the GTR range, the spread is as follows:
Six string: 25.5" - 27.5" Multiscale
Seven string: 25.5" - 27.8" Multiscale
Eight String: 25.5" - 28.2" Multiscale (HypeGTR only)

Due to the increased scale length on the bass side, the tension of the strings increases. We recommend you try dropping a gauge on the bottom end, for example, if you usually use 9-46's, try 9-42's.

Body dimensions (thickness): 38mm HypeGTR. The TX model has a 42mm thickness. For comparison, Jacksons, Ibanez RG, Fender Strats, etc are generally 47mm.

Neck shape: 20.3mm @ 1st, 22 @ 17th, D shape with round shoulders. AKA "thin U"

The bridges are custom made to exacting tolerances by our partners at Hipshot, using a variety of materials proven for longevity and tone. Hipshot machineheads (locking).

A PVH A5 Humbucker (TXGTR)  features pride of place in the bridge position, with an Old School A5 single coil in the neck. Both of these pickups are made to our own specifications in Korea. 500k pots for volume, a 3 way toggle, and 500k push/pull tone pot for coil splitting. Bone nut.
