What we say:
Since the early days in 1974 when the company was founded by Leo Fender and friends in Fullerton, California to the Ernie Ball era of the present day led by Sterling Ball, Music Man have provided guitar players with superb sounding, high quality guitars with a reputation for incredible-feeling necks.
With a strong roster of top-flight artists like John Petrucci, St Vincent and Steve Lukather lending their name to signature models, Music Man are a legitimately significant brand putting out world-class guitars: they are fast becoming a go-to brand for taste-making younger artists who don’t necessarily want to play the same guitars of the previous generation. For guitarists and bassists looking for something relatively traditional but with a slight twist, they can count of music Man to deliver extremely high build quality and super-expressive tone.
St Vincent is a special artist and accordingly deserves a special guitar to complement her unique style and outlook on the world. The Music Man St Vincent Signature is exactly that.
With an eye-catching body design that's custom made to fit St Vincent, this eccentric-looking guitar is full of charisma and angular charm. There are now a slew of interesting colours to pick from and we love this classic 'Polaris' White-on-white. The neck is roasted Maple, an increasingly popular technique for adding strength and resonance to the wood. The neck feel is always a big selling point with Music Man guitars and Annie's model is no different: it's supremely comfortable and slinky.
The bridge is a customised version of Music Man's Modern tremolo complete with vintage-style bent steel saddles. A trio of custom made DiMarzio mini humbuckers (available nowhere else) give the St Vincent model all of its cut, zing and body. It's a superb guitar to play on a strap: it's got such a good balance and feel! The unusual body shape is actually excellent in practice, it's really practical as well as feeling like you're playing on a rocket or an old 50s hot rod!
St Vincent gets a guitar as cool as she is. We can't make you as cool as her but we can sort you out with her axe. The rest, we're afraid: you just cannot buy.
