The history of Music Man stretches back to 1971 and the early days were helped along with support from none other than Leo Fender. The early days mainly focused on amplifiers before moving to instruments again with support of Leo Fender the brand released the StingRay guitar and bass. The StingRay is still to this day featured in Music Man's line up. As innovative as these guitars were, Music Man couldn't maintain sales and eventually the company after some years was sold to Ernie Ball in 1984.

From that point on the only way was up with Ernie Ball slowly building the brand back up and gaining many big name endorsements such as Eddie Van Halen, Steve Morse, Albert Lee, Steve Lukather, and John Petrucci. Along with this new success came new innovations and model designs which would help cement Music Man as one of the premium brands in the guitar industry.
