What we say:
At A Glance:
The Fender Player Lead Series was first introduced in 1979 as a response to the rise in low-priced import guitars of the time. The result was an ergonomic guitar with a bold design which went on to become a cult classic. This reissue is a tribute to the those 70s models, featuring a set of dual-slanted Player series single-coil pickups with phase-reversing, a modern "C" neck profile and medium-jumbo frets. It's a stylish and unique Fender that will suit most styles of music.
Features We Love:
Dual-Slanted Player Series Pickups
This pair of Player series single-coil pickups have been slanted downwards to bring a richness to the rhythm tones and add extra treble to the higher strings, giving a clear and cutting tone to chords and soloing. It's a tone that will work well with indie, funk and pop music.
This guitar allows you to switch your pickups out of phase from each other, creating a shrill and hollow tone that can scream when overdriven. It may not sound too desirable in text, but once you hear it you will love it. It's useable for clean funk and rhythm tones, but a great example of out of phase pickups being used in a guitar solo is by Brian May in Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody
The hardtail strung through design continues this guitar's ergonomic design. Not only does it offer great comfort when palm muting and improved tuning stability, it also runs the string resonance directly into the body of the guitar, giving this Fender an impressive sustain.
- Phase-switching brings unique tones to the guitar
- Hardtail bridge gives the guitar improved tuning stability and great sustain
