Introducing the Tube Drive 12AT7WC, a strictly limited run from Keeley, built around one very special tube. Inside this pedal sits a genuine 1987 Philips JAN 12AT7WC, military-grade glass made to tighter tolerances than anything on the consumer shelf and built to outlast the amps it was originally specified for.

Most "tube" overdrive pedals run their valves at starved voltages, just enough to light the glass and claim "tube tone" on the spec sheet. However, the Keeley Electronics Tube Drive runs its 12AT7WC at a genuine 168 V, so the tube does what a tube is actually meant to do: it compresses beautifully when you dig in and blooms as the notes hang, staying round and musical when you roll the volume control back. Now, combine all of that dynamic tube goodness with the iconic roar of the Phat Mod and you truly have a drive pedal for the ages!

The first thing you notice is the headroom. Roll the guitar volume back and the Tube channel stays clear and musical instead of thinning out, which is the tell of real high-voltage operation. Dig in and it compresses like a pushed preamp, that soft clip that makes single notes hang just a little longer than they should.

The Drive channel carries the other half of the story: Keeley's legendary Phat Mod, the original mod that turned a stock BD-2 into something players still hunt for. On its own it goes from warm, touch-sensitive grit to full-on stacked overdrive. Into the Tube channel it becomes a fat, well-defined wall of gain that maintains its note separation, no matter how hard you push it.

A long press on the footswitch flips the effect order, so the Phat Mod can feed the tube preamp for smooth, rounded warmth, or the tube can feed the Phat Mod for a more aggressive, cutting overdrive. The same gesture toggles between true bypass and Keeley's renowned silent buffered switching, which you'll appreciate the moment there's a long cable run between your board and the amp. Each channel has its own Level, Drive and Tone controls, and the TRS remote input lets you jump channels from far across the stage if needed.

Built from start to finish in Keeley's Oklahoma City headquarters, the Tube Drive is the pedal your whole board ends up organised around. Warm tube grit, Phat Mod roar or both stacked into one massive voice. Plug in and let that 12AT7WC do its thing.
