SHREDATHON 2025!
On Thursday 12th June, our Glasgow store will be holding our first ever shred event, and you are invited!
The Shredathon is an evening of shred excess, in order to celebrate the rarity of having not only Joe Satriani and but also Steve Vai in town for a performance! Read on to find out about all of the activities on offer…
Win an IBANEZ JEM Jr Guitar!
Everyone who attends the evening will be entered into a prize draw to win an Ibanez JEM Jr guitar! All you have to do is show up and give your name to our staff to be in the draw! One entry per person, of course. (Prize colour may vary from item shown).
Shred Competition - Win a GG Giftcard!
Be a part of the evening’s shred-tertainment! Throw your hat in the ring to see if you have what it takes to become Glasgow’s greatest shredder. All contenders will report to staff on the evening, improvise over a hard rockin’ backing track (in Em, the shreddiest of all keys) and play on a guitar supplied by us, just to make it fair for everybody. The gg staff will be the judges, along with a representative from Ibanez!
- 1st prize - a £100 guitarguitar Giftcard
- 2 x runner up prizes - Joe Satriani strap and pick sets, thanks to D’Addario.
EXCLUSIVE Behind-the-Scenes Video Footage of Vai and Satriani!
Our staff member Ray McClelland has interviewed Steve and Joe a number of times over the years, and has put together a special, exclusive short video montage of behind-the-scenes footage that literally nobody in the world has seen except for him! This footage - put together for this event only - will be shown once and never again, so this is your chance to catch a peek behind the scenes! (No filming or photos of the video please).
Ray will be MC’ing the evening and will be on hand to chat about his various interactions with Vai, Satriani and other top players. Questions are encouraged!

For one night only, we will have some incredible and rare Ibanez JEM guitars on display! These are so secretive that even WE haven’t seen them yet!
The Biggest and Best Selection of Shred Guitars in the Country!
For this event, we’ll be gathering together our very best shred guitars from around all of the guitarguitar stores, for you to check out, try and buy! We’ll have Ibanez JEMs, Satriani JS models plus a fantastic selection of new and pre-owned gear, all in one location!

The Details - Where and When
The event is in our Glasgow store at 36 Trongate, G1 5ES. We begin at 7pm sharp and will draw things to a close at 9pm. Tickets are required (one per order) so make sure you grab yours from the link below.
