What we say:

With a sound and feel that is way above the humble price tag, Yamaha's C40 classical guitar is understandably the first choice for students of classical technique everywhere. Schools love it, teachers love it and those with a burgeoning interest in all things nylon strung love it because they can dip a tow into the classical world and score themselves a good guitar without spending a large sum of money.

Once again, Yamaha impress with the level of detail they can cram into this low price point: you'll get a comfortable guitar with good tuners and a sweet tone that encourages you to play. The 2 ply body construction ensures a robustness that allow your technique to grow unhindered.

If you have an interest in trying nylon string guitar techniques, the Yamaha C40 is a more than wise bet.

Really nice guitar although had a small ding from either manufacturer or transit, change the strings instantly to the black nylon with the ball ends around £17 on amazon EJ32 silver plated wound black nylon, they make the sound incredible and the resonance of the Yamaha C40 really brings the sound and harmony of a classical guitar but also you can play it a little louder then original nylon strings. Besides that the most important part I have found is the black nylons feel oily in your fingers which makes playing FAR easier for beginners, not only do they feel softer then original nylon, they just sound and glide on the fingers which makes changing finger position super fluent and easy! The guitar has amazing resonance, looks like a million dollar Too! The shiny wood is something to truly be admired. And compared to other very expensive guitars I cants see it get much better then what I already have!

For what I paid for this guitar the quality is outstanding. Yamaha are very good at making the most of what materials they have to work with. Although it would of been nice if it cam with a basic gig bag.

Nice bright sound, wider neck 53mm than my Fender CN60S 43mm. Plays well and good reviews as a 'beginner's guitar' - I'm a beginner, just 1 year in now!

It's not a top of the range classical but a great staring point (it's what I needed to compliment my existing acoustic).
