The sweet-toned, nylon-stringed ukulele originated in 19th century Hawaii. It gained great popularity in the U.S. during the early 20th century and from there spread internationally. Bought for me, since we had just bought our grandson a Fender Piha'eu and I needed a Uke of my own in order to teach him. I wanted a similar but not identical uke, hence the Ibanez. Both are nice instruments at a realistic price point for a child if you want to give them more than a toy. Side by side I would say the Fender just shades it due to slightly better projection
