How it Works

A Vocoder works by combining two signals, one provides the sound, while the other (usually a voice) manipulates that sound, giving it a phonetic vocal tone. Similar to when you put your earbuds in your mouth and make a "wow" motion with your mouth, vocoding has a distinctive sound and has been used by many including Kraftwerk, Daft Punk and Deftones.

What Does It Take?

The VO-1 sits inline between your guitar and amp, just like a distortion pedal would. The only other equipment you require is a microphone, XLR cable and mic stand.

Modes

With four vocoding modes, the VO-1 can take your guitar tone to new extremes. Vintage gives you that classic 70s vocoder sound, Advanced is a high definition vocoding tone and Talk Box, as the name would suggest, gives a talk box lead sound, without the extra gear. Choir mode gives you a lush swooping vocoder sound without using a mic.
