What we say:

At A Glance

The Martin D42 is a true classic from the Standard Series. The historic 'pre-war' design makes this guitar a firm favourite amongst many musicians. The combination of premium East Indian rosewood back and sides with a Sitka spruce top produces a full and rich sounding instrument.

The pearl inlays are a beautiful feature and the antique white binding also adds to the overall class. As you would expect from a dreadnought model, the low end is full but the overall sound is still well balanced. It is perfect for singer songwriters or anyone who is looking for an impressive acoustic instrument.

The D42 is used by the likes of Kirk Hammett and Jason Isbell so you know it is a great choice.

Features We Love:

Sitka Spruce Top

Sitka is a great choice for a top wood. It is strong yet still lightweight giving the best of both worlds. It produces an articulated and powerful tone with great projection. It is also a wood that sounds better as it ages, so you are really investing in a great guitar for the future too.

Pearl Inlays

A snowflake-inlayed ebony fingerboard provides a luxurious playing surface. The inlays contrast with the fingerboard colour and stand out with elegance. A great touch that stays on the right side of classy.

Martin Quality

Martin have been creating incredible guitars for over 180 years. They are regularly the go to choice of many of the best musicians in the world due to the excellent quality and tone. For many, a Martin guitar is one for life and it is easy to see why these are real keepers.

Pros:

  • A classic 'pre-war' style guitar
  • Full and rich tone
  • An ideal choice for any serious musician
