This fearsomely spec’d C-7 is a new 2018 model by Schecter. Featuring most details that a creative guitarist would want in one instrument, this 7 string piles on the quality and value.

So, let us begin with the woods and construction. We have a solid body of Swamp Ash (great for resonance and overtones) and an arched top of Flame Maple. The neck is a ‘through’ design and is made of Maple, Walnut and Paduak with Carbon Fibre rods for reinforcement.

The 26.5" scale length fingerboard is Ebony and feels exceptionally smooth. It has a 12-16” compound radius to make chording and shredding equally comfortable. Two octaves’ worth of Extra Jumbo stainless steel frets attest to the quality on display here. Small offset Abalone dots serve as tasteful and subtle fret markers.

In terms of hardware, this guitar is absolutely cutting edge. Schecter have selected a pair of Fishman Fluence Modern active humbuckers here for the firepower! These ceramic beasts are capable of planet-smashingly heavy tones and more & more top-tier heavy players are using them.

Bridge-wise, we are treated to a heavy duty version of the legendary Floyd Rose tremolo. This double locking whammy unit has for decades been the number one choice for pyrotechnic dive bombs and air raid siren noises. There's a whole book of whammy techniques you can take advantage of when you have a Floyd!

We are seriously impressed with this guitar: we haven’t even gone into the beauty of the Antique Fade Burst over that flame top! This isn’t a cheap instrument but we think its actually spectacular value for money when you start adding up the cost of all of the hardware, never mind the top-rate build quality. There is very little the modern 7 string guitarist could need that is not on board this beautiful axe.
