Fender’s Player Series is a fresh update of their most beloved models for today’s contemporary musician. The Player Series replaces the Mexican Standard Series and brings with it a host of exciting new features.
Each Player Series guitar features revised body shapes (bringing them in line with vintage bodies) new colours, a newly designed neck carve and upgraded pickups. Whatever style you play, you’ll be sure to find a favourite amongst the raft of new models available.
Fender’s all-time classic Jazz bass is of course a major addition to the Player series. This is the left-handed 4 string fretted model but the range also contains a fretless Jazz and a 5 string.
The Player Jazz has subtle improvements over the previous Mexican Standard model, most clearly in the pickups. The new Player pickups sound fantastic, bringing a wide spread of highly usable sounds to the fore, with the ability to mix outputs from both pickups too.
These Players Series pickups use Alnico 5 magnets and have a slightly hotter than vintage output for more modern styles. Just back the volume knobs off a little (each pickup has it’s own) to bring out a more retro tone.
Fender have gone for their Modern ‘C’ neck profile here, twinned with a 9.5” radius fingerboard. Players of all styles can agree on these dimensions so it’s a good move to include them here. A standard scale length of 34” and 20 Medium Jumbo frets all keep things on familiar ground, too.
This great bass will be the cornerstone of many a player’s collection. The Fender Player Jazz bass is an excellent choice for the lefty player looking to play a variety of styles with a great sounding, easy to play instrument.
