Fender’s American Performer Mustang Bass satisfies the large numbers of bassists who have cultivated a renewed interest in this design. The shorter scale length (30” instead of 34”) completely changes the playing feel, helping you automatically choose different notes and grooves altogether.
Fender have kept this relatively close to how Mustang basses have always been in term of fundamentals: the concessions to modernity, when used, are useful and practical. For instance, there is now a split-coil pickup and a single coil for more tonal depth and variation. Also, the fingerboard is a more contemporary 9.5” radius with Jumbo-sized frets. The helps the American Performer Mustang Bass feel instantly comfortable to a large cross-section of bass players.
The same ‘Yosemite’ style of pickup spec from the American Performer guitar models is applied here too, making this bass sound tight and focussed.
Appealing finishes like this new Satin Sea Foam Green and a pearloid pickguard ensure that this Mustang bass’s visual game is strong.
